Reason Given for Ubisoft I Am Alive Delay

Ubisoft's game, I Am Alive is suffering more setbacks. According to Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft "has been totally re-engineering the product" That maens completely scrapping any and all work that HAD been done on it. But, it's still in the works. I Am Alive takes place after an earth-shattering earthquake in Chicago and provides players with a first-person perspective on survival. It was originally to be released in March 2010.

Tekken Voice Actor Found Dead

57-year old Daisuke Gouri passed away Sunday morning after he had been spotted wandering the streets with blood dripping from his arm. Investigators also found a sharp object and last will and testament at the scene and are investigating his death as a suicide. Gouri also voiced Bass Armstrong in the Dead or Alive series, Mister Hercule Satan in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai and Heihachi Mishima in the Tekken games — among other titles that include Metal Gear Solid 2, Soulcalibur and Final Fantasy XII.

Yakuza 4 Deluxe Bundle Includes Dragon Flask

The upcoming PS3 exclusive Yakuza 4 packs something a little different in their deluxe bundle; a flash. Laser etched with the tattoo that adorns the back of Yakuza hero Kazuma Kiryu, the deluxe bundle is priced at ¥10,290 (US$113).

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Now Available on iPhone

GTA Chinatown Wars is now available on iPhone. A disappointing launch for the DS version is hoping to see some turnaround as it's available on the Apple App store. This faithful port is available for the iPhone and iPod Touch at $9.99.

Mass Effect 2 Release Day DLC to be FREE

In a cryptic announcement, BioWare posted via their Twitter account that there will be release day DLC for Mass Effect 2 and that it would indeed be free. "Addressing rumors: BioWare will not be charging extra for any new Mass Effect 2 content on launch day. More DLC details next week," says the tweet.

Nintendo Sells Three Million Wii's in December

According to Nintendo (still unofficial until we hear from the NPD), 3 million Wii's were sold for the holiday season in December. A number of those purchases may correlate with the New Super Mario Bros. game which is at 4 million U.S. lifetime sales.

 

Metal Slug XX for PSP in February

"Old school arcade action is back" with Metal Slug XX making it's way to the PSP next month. The run and gun game will also feature Combat School, which offers Metal Slug veterans a chance to put their cred on the line in over 70 challenging mission-based trials. Metal Slug XX will drop February 23, 2010 for $19.99.

 

Unofficial Left 4 Dead De-make Available

If you've ever wondered what the epic zombie killing action from L4D would be like in 8-bit, now's your chance. Eric Ruth Games has de-made L4D to retro goodness. Dragon Age: Origins "Awakenings" Expansion Announced, DLC Delayed

Dragon Age: Origins will be getting it's first full expansion on March 16th, titled "Awakenings". The previously announced DLC, "Return to Ostagar" DLC, however, will be delayed until January 11th for unknown reasons. "Awakenings" takes place after the events of Dragon Age: Origins and will be available on March 16th for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC bearing a price tag of $40.

 

EA Closing Multiplayer for Older Sports Titles

Many of the older EA Sports games (i.e. Madden NFL 07, 08) will have the doors shut on their multiplayer, according to EA. Twenty games will be getting the multiplayer axed on February 2, 2010. See the full article for more details and a list of games.

 

Dark Void PC Requirements Announced, Demo Coming This Week

Dark Void is due out in stores January 19th after having been delayed from a September '09 release. The PC requirements (not recommendations) were announced today, as well as the launch of the demo for Dark Void available on Xbox 360 and the Playstation Network. See the full article for more.

 

Starcraft II Protoss Mini-Campaign Confirmed

Blizzard's Stefanie Gwinner confirmed this on the Battle.net forums that Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty single-player mode would be getting a Protoss mini-campaign featuring the sons of Aiur. Starcraft II is expected out sometime this year. Need more input?

Dragon Age: Origins Gets 'Return to Ostagar' DLC Next Week

Dragon Age: Origins will see another DLC next week, the 'Return to Ostagar' and will allow players to "reclaim secrets lost on the battlefield" at Ostagar. The DLC will be available for PC and Xbox 360 on January 5th, and sometime later for the PS3. Cost will run 400 Microsoft points, 400 BioWare points, or $4.99.

 

Digital Distribution Giant Steam Runs Out of Digital Game, Prey

Endless supply with digital distribution right? Wrong. During Steam's holiday sale, shoppers looking to purchase the game Prey were in for a surprise when a "Sold Out" sign appeared. According to the sign, Steam ran out of keys, but to make up for it, they put Bioshock in the sale until they could come up with more.

 

Eight-story Arcade in Japan Has 'Alley' Theme

Japan has an eight-story, 18+ arcade named Anata no Warehouse ("Your Warehouse") decorated in dark, dank, "backstreets of China" decor. It looks as if it would fit right in with a Silent Hill storyline.

 

Xbox Thief Gets Caught on Xbox Live

22 year-old Bronx resident Jeremiah Gilliam must've thought he was pretty smart after raiding 200 cars and several homes and stealing video games, GPS, laptops and other expensive items. That was until he logged onto an Xbox 360 he stole using the owner's Xbox Live ID. The owner, saw his ID log on to Xbox Live through a friend's account. The boy called his parents, who called the cops, who traced the IP address to Jeremiah Gilliam's grandmothers house where they found "dozens of video games, laptops, and GPS devices", and Jeremiah Gilliam himself who now faces Grand Larceny charges.

Quicky Titles for Wednesday, December 16th: Mega Man 10 Not Wii Exclusive, Assassin's Creed 2 DLC detailed, Fallen Earth Launches Free Trial & First Night Content, Mortal Online Release Delayed Until January, New iPhone Muppets Drumming Game, and Battlefield Heroes Reaches 3 Million Users.

 

Mega Man 10 Not Wii Exclusive

Capcom confirmed that upcoming Mega Man 10 will be coming to the PS3, Xbox 360 as well as the Wii. The plot involves a mysterious infectious disease that turns robots insane and makes them destroy cities. The game is due out Spring 2010.

 

Assassin's Creed II DLC Detailed

Two upcoming DLC for Assassin's Creed II has been announced including 'The Battle of Forli' ($3.99) which will be available the end of January, and 'Bonfire of the Vanities'($4.99) due out in February.


Fallen Earth Launches Free Trial, First Night Content

Remember post-apocalyptic MMORPG, Fallen Earth? They are launching free 10-day trials and 20% discounts on the game (bringing it to $39.99) as they launch their special festive 'First Night' holiday content.

 

Mortal Online Release Delayed Until January

Little known Mortal Online, the sandbox MMORPG, will be delayed from an original December 2009 release to a January 2010 release. The delay is to "polish up" core elements of the game. The game is currently available in Beta form.

 

New iPhone Muppets' Animal Drumming Game

A new iPhone game allows players to play as Animal from the Muppets in a drumming game. Players can play through classic mode, or import their own tunes in free play mode; players can save your performance so Animal can reproduce it. Available at the iTunes Store for $1.99.

 

Battlefield Heroes Reaches 3 Million Users

Battlefield Heroes is a free-to-play shooter game. According to Ben Cousins, the Battlefield Heroes team's general manager, tossed out some impressive figures: "Battlefield Heroes continues to grow fast with well over 50,000 new players joining us every week. Our players have already logged in over 1,300 years worth of game time and nearly 300 million kills over 150 million five-minute game rounds. The vast majority of our players play for free, but if they want to customize their character or enhance their game with weapon upgrades or widgets then there is a cool item for them in our store." To celebrate devs are releasing a new map, 'Sunset Showdown'.
