Star Trek D A C Hasn't Forgotten PS3, Release This Summer

Months since Star Trek hit the theaters and the game hit the Xbox, they apparently haven't forgotten about releases of Star Trek D-A-C for the PS3 and the PC. Paramount confirmed once again that the title will be released on PS3 "later this summer" and a PC release "shortly after".

The PSN edition of the game will come with gameplay updates; including variable AI difficulty settings, "improved mechanics" for capturing control points in Conquest games, and customizable goals. The latter will allow players to set game time to limits and the number of kills needed to win.

Star Trek D-A-C is a top-down arcade style shooter game pitting The Federation against the Romulans.

Star Trek Online Boasts Thousands of Combinations with Race Creator

Last weekend at New York's Comic Con, Cryptic Studios talked up the currently under development Star Trek Online. Their biggest talking point? The online game's race creator boasting thousands of different combinations. Players will have a choice to play the race of their choice from the Star Trek universe including Human, Vulcan, Andorian, Klingon, Orion, Gorn, or create their own using the race creator with "unprecedented levels of customization options".

The mmorpg, which has not yet released alpha or beta versions and is currently under development, will take place in the Star Trek universe about 30 years after the events of Star Trek Nemesis in the year 2049. Technology and the volatility of the universe will have grown. Players will be the captain of a ship and can work their way up in ranks.  Characters will be able to choose from a variety of career paths, such as Engineer, Tactical Officer, Doctor, Science Officer, etc (a Captain is just a commander of the ship, regardless of rank or role). Seperate servers will exist for PvP and PvE play. Players will be able to form teams with friends and do missions together. Outside of combat the game will feature numerous community building features, hubs, and events. Bartering and trade are expected to be a big part of the economy (for those who know Star Trek lore, the Federation has done away with a monetary system).

Cryptic Studios is responsible for games such as City of Heroes and City of Villains and are recently taking applications for one of their latest projects, Champions Online.
