“Intel Bids Farewell to Deep Link: Ending Support and Future Updates for Intel-Powered Systems”

Intel has decided to discontinue support for its Deep Link technology, which will no longer receive updates going forward.

Update on Intel Deep Link Technology Discontinuation

Launched in 2022 alongside the Arc Alchemist graphics cards, Intel’s Deep Link technology is reaching its end. Despite the absence of an official announcement from Intel, an employee disclosed on a GitHub thread that the feature will no longer be maintained. Zack-Intel confirmed that Deep Link will remain in its current form without any future updates.

This announcement arose from a user inquiry on GitHub regarding issues with activating Deep Link while using OBS Studio, a popular software for gameplay capture and streaming. An OBS employee clarified that the problem was not related to their software, but rather to Intel’s drivers. A month later, Zack-Intel confirmed the discontinuation of Deep Link, disappointing users who had expected performance improvements from the technology integrated with Intel’s 11th generation processors and Arc Alchemist GPUs.

Hi @SapphireDrew,

I wanted to reach out to let you know about a change regarding the Intel® Deep Link features. Deep Link is no longer actively maintained and will not be receiving future updates, meaning that there will be no changes to the features regardless of their current functionality status.

Intel markets Deep Link as a performance enhancement tool designed to optimize the synergy between its CPUs and discrete GPUs. Features like Dynamic Power Share, Hyper Encode, Additive AI, and Stream Assist are engineered to enhance efficiency and user experience. However, users will now encounter compatibility challenges due to the lack of ongoing maintenance. Although the feature will still function, any potential issues that arise may not be addressed by Intel.

Deep Link is exclusive to Intel CPU and GPU combinations and will not work with AMD or NVIDIA graphics cards, limiting its application for certain users. The sudden stop in support may surprise many, considering Intel’s promotion of Deep Link as a significant upgrade for gaming, content creation, and streaming tasks.
