Dune: Awakening’s large-scale beta weekend is currently underway, allowing players to experience the game ahead of its revised launch date of June 10, 2025. This follows a delay from the original release date of May 20, which was pushed back by three weeks to allow the development team additional time to implement changes based on player feedback from the closed beta.
Beta Weekend Details
The beta testing phase has been ongoing for several months, with select participants testing the game’s limits. Funcom has been vigilant about the potential for gameplay issues commonly faced by major MMOs, particularly concerning server overload during peak times.
In anticipation of the upcoming player influx, Funcom addressed concerns about server capacity, assuring players that their experience with similar launches has prepared them for the challenges ahead.
How to Participate
The beta weekend runs from May 9 to May 12. Players who have not yet received an invite can still register on the game’s Steam page for a chance to join. By adding the game to their wishlist and subscribing to updates from Funcom, players may enhance their chances of receiving a beta code. Additionally, a Twitch broadcast on May 10 will provide a chance to acquire one of the thousands of codes available to viewers.
Gameplay and Features
This beta offers up to 25 hours of gameplay, covering most of Act 1 of Dune: Awakening. Notably, participants are not bound by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), allowing them to share their experiences and stream the game freely. For those interested in preview content, a recent article by Wccftech’s Alessio Palumbo provides insights into the gameplay available during the beta.
