On April 27, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time, Pokémon Go will celebrate it’s Vanillite Community Day. During this event, players can expect a significant increase in Vanillite spawns, along with enhanced odds of encountering shiny versions.
Strategies for Catching Shiny Vanillite
Research previously conducted indicated that shiny Pokémon appear at a rate of approximately 1 in 24 during Community Days. Thus, players who actively participate during the three-hour period are likely to catch several shiny Pokémon.
For players with limited time or resources, utilizing Incense can be beneficial. Quickly tapping on each Vanillite allows for swift shiny checks, with non-shiny ones being bypassed. Players can identify already tapped Vanillite by their directional facing position relative to the player.
Vanillite Evolution and Community Day Move
By evolving Vanillish into Vanilluxe between April 27 at 2 p.m. and May 4 at 10 p.m. local time, players will denote the charged move Avalanche. If this window is missed, there may be another opportunity to obtain the move during a Community Day event in December. Alternatively, players can use an Elite TM to teach the move at any time.
Vanilluxe’s Meta Performance
Vanilluxe, along with its pre-evolutions, does not hold a competitive edge in Pokémon Go’s high-level gameplay, including both PvE and PvP scenarios. Unless players have an affinity for this Pokémon, investing resources such as Stardust is generally not advisable.
Maximizing the Vanillite Community Day Experience
During the Vanillite Community Day, several bonuses will be available:
- Utilizing a Lucky Egg will enhance experience gains.
- Activating an Incense will increase spawn rates.
- Mega Evolving Glalie or Abomasnow provides extra Vanillite Candy per catch.
Additionally, a “Community Day Continued” Timed Research task will be available until May 4, offering players further chances to catch Vanillite, including those with unique backgrounds. This research will also maintain the heightened shiny rate, granting extra opportunities to find shiny versions after the main event concludes.
