March 19: The Epic Techrot Encore Update Lands in Warframe!

During a recent Digital Extremes stream, the Canadian developer revealed exciting details about the forthcoming Warframe update titled Techrot Encore, set to launch on March 19. This major update will introduce the game’s 60th Warframe, known as Temple.

New Features and Characters

Players will engage with Temple in a dynamic way, utilizing heatwave projectiles, summoning Techrot Subwoofer minions to enhance allies and hinder foes, and performing a unique Solo that unleashes flame jets. Additionally, Temple will wield the sapient Infested guitar named Lizzie, serving as an Exalted Weapon that can shoot projectiles and transform into a flamethrower temporarily.

The update will also introduce several new Protoframes:

  • Flare (Temple), crafted as a transcendent work of art that defies conventional gender and biological norms.
  • Minerva (Saryn) and Velimir II (Frost), two battle-hardened veterans in love and the adoptive parents of Major Rusalka, antagonist from Warframe: 1999.

New Mission Types

Techrot Encore will also bring two novel mission types. The Stage Defense mission tasks players with protecting Flare as they conduct a memorial concert for band members lost to Scaldra’s reign. The second mission, dubbed Temporal Archimedea, presents a more formidable challenge. Players will collaborate with Minerva and Velimir II to complete three consecutive randomly selected missions, utilizing Kaya’s innovative Peely Pix system for customizable modifiers that alter each run’s dynamics.

Additionally, as a part of Digital Extremes’ commitment to Make-A-Wish, the update will incorporate an atomic racing mini-game named Ollie’s Crash Course, available in the Höllvania Mall Hub arcade collection.

Mobile Companion App and Community Statement

Today also marks the launch of the Open Beta for the new Warframe mobile companion app, featuring support for Steam login, improved navigation features, and a revamped settings page. The app is available for download on iOS here and on Android here.

Megan Everett, the Director of Community at Digital Extremes, expressed gratitude towards the player community, stating:

Warframe will officially turn 12 years old on March 7, a milestone none of us ever thought we would reach when we first started. This year, we want our players to know how thankful we are for them through our content plans. Techrot Encore not only marks the first significant update of our 12th year but also represents the largest ‘echoes’ update we’ve created to expand Warframe: 1999. We are excited to bring our surreal space virus boy band to life, so gear up for an unforgettable experience on March 19!

Soulframe Updates

In today’s stream, Digital Extremes also showcased updates for their upcoming fantasy-themed game, Soulframe. The team shared enhancements for Preludes (Pre-Alpha Test) players, announcing two new social hubs tied to a faction system, a side-quest system based on faction goals, and gameplay footage highlighting a new caster weapon type. Players can now align with additional factions, including Alca’s Children and Kith of Kings, alongside the previously introduced Silent Rose.

Each faction will have dedicated Enclave hubs where players can undertake side quests to advance their respective objectives. The new caster weapon type demonstrated in the stream can unleash energy bolts from both hands and can deceive enemies into believing they are unarmed.
