25G PON technology operates on existing fibre infrastructure used for GPON and 10G PON services, but it offers speeds that can reach up to 20 times faster than current gigabit solutions. Currently, 25G PON technology is being utilized by 17 operators worldwide, including major providers like Google Fiber and Hong Kong Broadband. The deployment of these new fibre modems supports residential demands for faster Internet speeds while being cost-effective for service providers.

This release enhances Nokia’s 25G PON product suite, which already includes various optical line terminal (OLT) platforms and a dedicated 25G PON ONT tailored for enterprise use.
