ObjectScale.Next: Revolutionizing Performance and Scalability in the Age of AI

The evolving landscape of enterprise IT, shaped by the surge in AI applications, necessitates robust and efficient storage solutions. Dell Technologies is responding to the growing demand for high-performance, resilient storage systems with the launch of the next generation of its native object storage, Dell ObjectScale.

Introducing Dell ObjectScale 4.0

Dell ObjectScale version 4.0 is now available, offering an AI-ready operating environment equipped with advanced features that enhance performance and stability for data-heavy applications. This update highlights innovative capabilities such as intelligent rebalancing and improved space reclamation for optimized capacity utilization.

Furthermore, ObjectScale 4.0 enhances customer support with an expanded set of system health metrics and alerting features, ensuring organizations maintain peak resilience fortified by the latest security enhancements. According to Dell’s analysis, ObjectScale is recognized as a highly secure object storage solution, providing a total cost of ownership up to 76% lower than that of public cloud alternatives, simplifying the storage strategy for businesses.

“Dell ObjectScale enables us to quickly recover petabytes of critical and irreplaceable research data in case of a natural disaster or cyber-attack.” – Craig Risien, CI Systems Project Manager, Ocean Observatories Initiative, Oregon State University

The new version can be deployed through various appliance configurations, including both HDD-based and all-flash options.

Hybrid Cloud Solutions: Dell and Wasabi Technologies

Expanding its partnership with Wasabi Technologies, a pioneer in cloud object storage, Dell has introduced a hybrid cloud solution combining Wasabi’s service with Dell ObjectScale. This collaboration allows customers to access a unified, cost-effective hybrid cloud solution, integrating Dell ObjectScale with Dell PowerProtect Data Domain.

This joint effort offers hybrid cloud object storage as-a-service, beginning with a minimum reserved capacity of 25TB per month. The solution leverages Wasabi’s extensive global infrastructure, providing seamless integration capabilities with Dell’s unstructured storage systems, which include ObjectScale and PowerScale. This integration supports various use cases, including data archival and space optimization.

“The collaboration between Dell and Wasabi represents a powerful combination of Dell’s industry-leading infrastructure solutions with Wasabi’s simple, predictable and affordable cloud storage.” – Marty Falaro, EVP & COO, Wasabi Technologies

This hybrid cloud offering will be accessible in the United States, with a rollout planned for the United Kingdom in April 2025 and additional regions to follow.

Next-Level Performance with ObjectScale XF960 and X560

Dell’s ObjectScale and PowerScale are foundational components of the Dell Data Lakehouse and Dell AI Data Platform, designed to meet the intensive demands of AI and analytics workloads. The latest additions in this lineup include the ObjectScale XF960 and X560, engineered for exceptional performance in AI applications.

The ObjectScale XF960, an advanced all-flash appliance, has been designed to enhance AI processing capabilities, achieving up to 50% greater throughput per node than competing models. Its notable improvement in density allows significant storage efficiencies, crucial for organizations focused on large-scale AI initiatives.

Additionally, the ObjectScale X560 offers optimal performance for enterprises looking to enhance their AI data lake operations, boasting up to 83% faster read throughput to support critical processes such as media ingest and AI model training.
