The Community Shaders team has unveiled a significant update for the Skyrim graphics framework mod. Version 1.2.0 introduces an add-on that incorporates support for AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation, offering most users a performance boost of 60-70%. This follows previous enhancements such as Physically Based Rendering, Skylighting, and dynamic cloud shadows. Existing support for NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation has been enhanced, although it remains an earlier version as the latest updates do not work with DirectX 11. Notably, Multi Frame Generation and Reflex are not supported currently due to NVIDIA’s pending fixes. However, AMD Anti-Lag 2 is expected to work with this update.
Frame Generation Features
The Frame Generation capability optimizes Skyrim’s performance akin to the popular Display Tweaks mod, although using both simultaneously is not recommended. This feature operates effectively when the game runs at approximately 60 frames per second, allowing for a doubling of this frame rate to 120 FPS. It activates automatically on displays with refresh rates of 120Hz or higher but can be manually enabled through the Community Shaders panel if necessary.
Additional Enhancements
The latest release brings a variety of improvements to Skyrim, including:
- A new grass shading model and enhanced grass collision.
- Fixes for parallax shading issues.
- Mipmap LOD bias adjustments for TAA/FSR/DLAA to enhance texture sharpness.
- The latest transformer model for DLAA.
- Adjustments to screen space global illumination.
- Brighter skylighting with refined shading effects.
- Improved wetness effects.
- Several tonemapping adjustments.
In the coming days, multiple graphics showcases featuring Community Shaders version 1.2.0 are expected to appear on YouTube, highlighting these updates in action.
