On Saturday, March 22, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time, Pokémon Go will host the Totodile Community Day event, where players can expect a significant increase in Totodile spawns, along with a higher likelihood of encountering shiny versions.
How to Catch Shiny Totodile
According to previous research conducted by The Silph Road, shiny encounter rates during Community Days are approximately 1 in 24. This statistic indicates that players who actively participate throughout the three-hour period will likely find multiple shiny Totodile.
If time or resources are limited, consider using Incense to attract Pokémon. Quickly tapping each Totodile and running from the non-shiny ones can maximize efficiency. Notably, already tapped Totodile will face your player character, aiding in tracking which Pokémon have been checked.
Special Move for Feraligatr
Players who evolve Croconaw into Feraligatr during the event window, specifically from 2 p.m. on March 22 until 10 p.m. on March 29, will unlock the charged move Hydro Cannon. If you miss the timeline, there may be another opportunity during a Community Day event in December, or you can utilize an Elite TM to teach the move at any time.
Feraligatr’s Strength in Gameplay
Feraligatr serves as a formidable water-type attacker in raids and gyms, especially when equipped with the moves Water Gun and Hydro Cannon. Although it competes closely with other strong water-type Pokémon such as Primarina, Swampert, and Greninja, Feraligatr remains a valuable addition to any trainer’s roster. It is also highly effective in the Great and Ultra Leagues for PvP battles, with an optimal setup including Shadow Claw, Hydro Cannon, and Ice Beam.
Maximize Your Totodile Community Day Experience
Several bonuses will enhance the Community Day experience:
- 1/4 hatch distance for eggs placed in Incubators during the event
- Incense lasts three hours
- Lure Modules last three hours
- Special Totodile photobombs during snapshot captures
Engage with the event by placing eggs in Incubators and activating Incense to catch as many Totodile as possible. Additionally, Mega Evolving Blastoise, Slowbro, Gyarados, or Swampert will yield extra Totodile Candy with each catch, and Primal Reversion on Kyogre also contributes.
Furthermore, the “Community Day Continued” Timed Research will be available until March 29, offering additional opportunities to catch Totodile, including ones with unique themed features. This Timed Research will maintain the enhanced shiny rate, providing extra chances to secure shiny Totodile even after the event concludes.
